I haven't finished a project in weeks!! Any guesses as to why? Hmm it could be that I am working a 40 hour work week and just want to sleep on my days off. That and it's too warm right now to be working on stuff. Yea and then you remember that I was whipping out projects like crazy about this time last year. It;s all good though. Its an ebb and flow kind of thing. Things go great and then they sort of stop. I've been working on Andrew's afghan since February. Wow that's like 4 months to be working on a project. I'm almost done though, it's huge and I have to sew it all together and put an edging on it. Oh yeah and I have to finish the very LAST panel. WOOHOO! Maybe it'll be done in the next week or so (I've been saying that for a month now). Any one feel free to kick my butt cause well things aren't going so well in my crochet world. But work is great, I get to do something that I love. Besides what else would I do with my degree in such a tiny tiny town?

Ok so I know I've been really lax in posting. Mostly because of work. See I work alot more than I used to so I haven't gotten alot done. As soon as I finish this afghan I will be posting pictures! I'm doing the lumberjack afghan someone posted a pattern for it on www.crochetville.org and let me tell you I'm making it huge and well I hate it. no no not the pattern. I just hate this blankie, but it's a present for my main man andrew so i hope he likes it...almost done, almost done (yup keep telling yourself that)...

My rug is finished and as I told the gals (and guys) on Crochetville, it is a technicolor nightmare, but it's awesome anyhow. I do have a picture for yall so you dont have to put up with boring posts any longer.
The hat for my co-worker is up there as well as a cute little bear thatI made my cousin although i think it's just a wee bit creepy...as always happy hooking :)

Now that I've graduated I think it's high time to finish a few of these lingering projects that take up space. I was working on andrews blankie but I'm kinda losing interest in it. It's a fun pattern and easy but so boring because it's so repetive. So I thought that I would use some other squares that I had to finish it but, it looks so yicky because I used an I hook on the one and an H hook on the other and they dont jive at all. So I'm kinda stuck right now because I want Andrew to like the afghan but I'm not sure that he will because it's turning out poorly...plus I hate working on it. I am however getting this really awesome round ripple rug done that is soo pretty :) I'm really enjoying that one it's more or less a stash busting project.

Hi there. Update on my hooks: I finished a doily it just needs the end woven in and then I'll take a picture, I am making a hat for a co-worker she's so cute and she will look darling in this on, and I finished a baby blanket for my manager (she's awesome btw), I started another doily I should have this done by next week and what else...i started a round ripple rug but it's just sitting there. I need to knit (evil K word i know) a scarf for my aunt, lots to do just not enough time for it all...happy hooking

This is a very stressful year already. My poor mum has some medical concerns and we aren't sure what is happening with that, my brother just got into a car accident tonight, and my uncle hates us (he's handicapped and my mum is his guardian). I know that God doesn't give us anything that we can't handle but still this hurts. I only want my mom to be okay and all this other crap that is happening sucks really bad. Right now I just wish I could wave a magic wand and everything will be fine again. We had so many plans for the coming year and now i'm not sure what is going to happen. I wanted to move out by the end of the year but if my family needs me then I'm going to stay and help out around the house. I've always said that family comes first and foremost and I know my family hasn't had the best track record with coming together and helping out but I want to be there for my parents. They deserve it. I also wish that Gram was still here to help us through this pain. She would always give us a sqeeze and tell us that everything will be ok. She was so positive. It'll be year since she left us in Feb. Gosh I miss her. My only option right now is positive prayer but the pain is so much and we are so worried about what is going to happen. Please if you see this keep my family in your prayers. God Bless-Becca

It's been a long time since my last post. I have a few things I'd like to share with you.
1. I passed all my college classes and am now a college graduate
2. I passed all my classes with 3 A's and a B, I thought I was going to get C's and D's
3. My hand made gifts were a big hit and all who recieved loved them
4. I am currently looking for a job that pays well and has benifits of some sort
5. I miss my boyfriend who goes back to college on January 14th
6. I'm in a crochet slump *gasp* I really dont feel like it right now
7. Knitting is fun but hurts my shoulders :(
8. I graduated top 3 in my high school class, where are the other two? One is a union worker and the other one is in the military, me I make pretzels. I feel kinda like a failure even though I did graduate college, I feel like I should be working in a fancy hotel under some of the most famous names in the business. Maybe someday...

It really has been quite some time since I last posted, and I have made some things but haven't gotten any good pictures yet. I have however just finished a toilet tissue cover for my boyfriends mom, I made it for Christmas. I'm hoping that she likes it! Well There it is :)

Oh and I learned how to knit!! I am currently working on a couple scarves. I found that I actually like to work with homespun now. It's so hard to work with when you crochet with it. Knitting though is actually quite easy with some of the novelty yarns out now.

One more thing I need to say: I'm a college graduate now!!! I graduated with my Associate of Applied Sciences degree in Baking and Pastry Arts, wow that's a mouthful. I will probably be postin more things now that finals are done for the most part (one left for Tuesday but it doesn't matter if I pass that one or not). I'm so excited to be finally out of school and ready for life on my own. I might have to start a new blog about it! Wait...No I won't, crochet is such apart of my life I wont have to blog about life, crochet is my life!

It's been what seems like forever since I last posted, but I've gotten alot of stuff done. I have 21 caps for the capital, I finished my moms christmas gift, and I made a soap saver for my boyfriend, and right now i'm working on a doily that feels like it's gonna take forever! Oh well I'm sure I've got forever. But today is special, I'm 21 today! yay! Well that's really all I wanted to say, other than I'll have pictures soon...probably next week sometime cause I'll be at home and I'll remember to do that :) lots of luv, and keep those hooks alive

I do have alot of pictures to add but this semester has been really busy. Andrew and I celebrated our one year anniversary as boyfriend/girlfriend. I really love him. Plus he supports my yarn addiction hehe. Anyways, I've completed quite a few projects in the past few weeks. First off, I finished my first round ripple afghan and matching hat, I started on Christmas crochet by making my mom a few much needed dishcloths, and finally I decided that I am going to participate in caps to the capitol, www.savethechildren.org check them out, it's a good cause. I think I have 16 little hats done so far, I'm hoping to have fifty but we'll see...that's all for now :)

A few weeks absence

I've been busy these past few weeks since my last post. I'm happy to say that I have finished quite a few of my WIP's and I started a new project.

my goal however is 50
only 46 left to go...I'll be reporting progress on this one often.
My friend Jeran is joining me on this one, she's fairly new to crochet and I think that this is an awesome way for her to build skill while doing something for the world wide community. Her goal is 50 also. I'm really excited to have someone join me on this project. We figure if we do 2 per day we'll have them done before December. I did 3 last night and I'm finishing up number 2 for today, for a total of 5 so far...I didn't count the fifth on as complete even though it'll be done today...I'll post later today on my final numbers for today.

On another note, I'm going to Atlantic City this weekend for the RBA show...I'm so excited! I love everything that has to do with baking. Some of us girls are going to keep busy on the ride down by taking our crochet and knitting! I smell a party! Jeran and I are going to work on our caps and a couple other girls are going to bring their stuff just because. I'm sad that AC doesn't have yarn shops close to where we are going to be. I'm sure though that I'll be kept busy with the food, the friends, the baking and oh yeah did I mention the food?? HAHA! Retail Baker's Association show should prove to be the most awesome thing I've done at college yet. I went to the show 2 years ago and it was awesome, this year is supposed to be bigger, alot bigger. I'll make sure and post lots of pictures for you all! Bakers rock!

I forgot to mention, I'm learning how to knit...yes knit...anyhoo that's all for now...

New hat and a shawl too

I really like my boyfriends hat but lets face it, it was too big for my head so i created one for myself and i really like how it turned out...Red skull on a black background
This picture is of a shawl i just finished for a friend who wanted it to help win a girl over...so sweet. He loves the shawl cause it's made with baby yarn (pounds of love). I can only hope the girl likes it just as much :) *happy dance*

So, it has been quite some time since I last posted, college life has taken up alot of my free time, you know party's, kegs and the like...no no I'm just kidding, really though studying, spending time with friends, and going to class have kept me from crochet. Well that's somewhat untrue, it goes with me everywhere but I just dont have alot of time to work on it. Its all good though. So far this semester I've finished my snowflake afghan (no easy feat), two shawls, and two hats. I think that's everything...I have a picture of only the one shawl...I forgot to get pictures of the rest. Right now I'm working on another shawl and a hat, no hurry though. I will say that the pattern I'm using for the shawl is awesome, this is the third shawl done with it and so far no problems :)

snowflake afghan is finished, well just about...when i brought materials to school with me, i totally forgot about the edging, so when i go home this weekend, this is coming with me and i'll finish it then. This afghan was a pain in the butt! i used Caron Pounders on this one and i needed 4 pound skeins in order to finish it, the first 3 were really close to the same color but that last skein was really off colored, but they didn't have any that were the color i needed so i made due and you can kinda tell that the dye lots were not the same...i guess i learned my dye lot lesson...always buy yarn that is from the same dye lot otherwise you will regret it, even if it says no dye lot....well i hope you like it, it's really warm and i had alot of fun making this one, maybe i'll make the pattern again someday :) Have a happy crochet day! tootles

i am struck by the lack of crochet graphs on the internet! now i'm not talking about graphghans or filet, but patterns in the tradition of "magic crochet". I have to admit that i love my grams old issues and it's a shame it went downhill. But it is so much easier in my opinion, to follow a picture rather than round by round on a doily! geez people get creative!

Why is it that the hobby that i love takes up so much of my time?? I leave for school on Sunday and yet I'm no where near done with being packed. right now my clothes are in a big heap and well I haven't yet decided on if I'm taking yarn or thread with me to school (maybe both?) who knows! And since I graduate in December I'm trying not to take too much with me but i feel lost without my "stuff" so it'll probably be like all the other times...I have too much crap lol. Just finished this afternoon, sexy huh?

Ok, so yesterday i said that doillies are boring and at that point it was true, but last night i sat down after buying some Boye hooks and they went through the thread much smoother and it was like the thread was my paint and the hook was my brush, it was magical. I DO! like doillies now and they are cute and adorable and i think with practice they will be awesome. and i'm working from a great set of magazines that my gram left when she passed away. but anyhoo i guess i'd better show you what i've been working on the past few days, keep in mind that they are NOT blocked, but that'll be just a matter of time before i do it.

Ok so it started Sat morning at 930am, work blech, anyhoo the girl i'm training called in sick. Not really a big dealexcept we had 50 rooms. Laundry in a hotel never ever ever ends. So 50 rooms laundry, by myself. I've done more before but for some reason i dont feel rushed or feel that it's overwhelming....Ok something must be wrong, nope everything is good. :) I didn't get done until 830pm!! can anyone do math? that's 11 hours! By myself inthe dungeon, i mean laundry room, with nothing but steelers football and country music to entertain me! There are only so many times i tolerate the fact that he Got a Brand New Girlfriend!!!!! and football, lets just say i'm not a fan. Anyhow i get out of work at 830, only to go home and go straight to bed cause i have to be at work the next day at 630am for breakfast duty! woo i love breakfast but i only got a few hours sleep due to the fact that my whole body ached. And now I have laundry duty again tomorrow, but its my very last day. Man am I gonna miss those girls :)

I'm so freakin excited!! School starts in just a few short days (ok more like 2 weeks but come on). I'm working on the snowflake afghan (www.artoftangle.com) and it's coming so slowly, all those little snowflakes annoy me in a way. But i'm hoping to have it finished by the time school starts so i can bring it to my residence at school. But if it's not done no big deal, i'll just bring it with me and finish it there... I'm off work today and tomorrow so that's pretty nice, but there is nothing fun to do in this town!!

Why oh why does it seem like i have so many projects to complete but no energy to do them? argh! drives me nuts, maybe i should get my butt out of this chair and go get comfy and crochet...yeah that's what i'll do....catch ya later crochet buffs :)

I've been working with plastic bags for a few weeks now and last night with it being hot and i didn't want to work on my snowflake afghan, so i made this cute little handbag, from the plastic bags my Uncle gave me. It's about 11" high by 9 inches wide and super cute!

this is a bunch of stuff i've been doing, the first one is me modeling a hat i designed, the second one is a baby blanket i've recently finished, it's made with Bernat baby coordinates in two colors white and yellow, it's jus a giant granny square done holding both colors at once. In different lights it's different colors, yellow in low light and off white in bright light. I really think my cousin is going to love it :) Finally the last picture is the first full size afghan that i've ever done. It fits perfectly on my bed

i feel horrible, for once since i started crocheting, i dont feel like it! i just want to be a lazy bum and lay around all day and be excited cause my digital camera will be here soon! i had a fight with my boyfriend last night, hmmm that was not fun, sometimes i feel like he doesnt understand where i'm coming from. But we ironed things out and really a fight isnt that bad of a thing, after we have our words we analyze why we said the things we did and then everything is good again. But i still feel blah, and it's raining and i have to work tomorrow....BLAH!
